Lieutenant Muhammad Abqari bin Haji Emran served as a Communication Officer (COMMSO) at KDB AS-SIDDIQ in the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN). He was born on June 17, 1992, in Brunei and fluent in both Malay and English. His academic journey began with the completion of Cambridge GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ Levels from Sayyidina Umar Al-Khattab Secondary School and Maktab Duli, respectively. This academic groundwork led him to pursue a B.Sc in Mathematics and later attain a Master of Teaching, both from the University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD). In the realm of military training, his journey commenced with enrollment in Officer Cadet School Intake 18 in 2019. He then embarked on various courses, including Special to Service, RBAF Service Fund, Service Writing Skills, Officer Under Training, Sub Lieutenant, Unit Security Officer, First Aid, Maritime Communication Officer and international INS and R&S Training Courses held in Singapore, each contributing significantly to his growth within the RBN. Lieutenant Abqari’s career progression within the RBN has been marked by achievements and promotions. Starting as an Officer Cadet in 2019, he was swiftly promoted to the rank of Midshipmen that same year. The following year, he attained the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade and served as an Officer Under Training aboard KDB IJHTIHAD. Progressing further, he assumed the role of Communication Officer on KDB DARUTTAQWA in 2021, earning the Officer of the Watch Certificate. Subsequently, he was part of the pioneer crew on KDB AS-SIDDIQ in 2022 and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2023. Engaging in international exercises has broadened Lieutenant Abqari’s perspectives. Participation in exercises such as the Hornbil Exercise with RMN, the COVID-19 Task Force Unit in 2020, CHABEL 6 Task Force Unit in 2021, and engaging with the Pakistan Navy, Indonesian Navy, the Fearless Project in Singapore in 2022 and Pelican Exercise 41/2023 in 2023 has enriched his skills and global outlook. Beyond his professional endeavors, Lieutenant Abqari cherishes a balanced life. Married to Najwa Ajilla Haji Amran, he finds joy in hobbies like playing chess, badminton, and football, which serve as his source of relaxation and recreation.
