Inspector Kim, Jaejung has an extensive and distinguished career in the maritime domain. He began his military service as a midshipman in March 1997 and graduated from the Republic of Korea Naval Academy, where he was commissioned as an Ensign (O-1) in March 2001. During his career as a naval officer, he served in various sea and ashore assignments over 20 years. He completed the Officer Basic Course (OBC) and Officer Advanced Course (OAC) at the ROK Navy Education and Training Command. Additionally, he pursued further military education, including completing the prestigious Staff College Course at the U.S. Naval War College, class of 2014-2015. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he joined the Korea Coast Guard as a Inspector in November 2021, where he took on key roles in maritime patrol operations within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and crisis management duties near the Northern Limit Line (NLL). Inspector Kim is happily married to Ms. Lee, Soyeon and they are blessed with a son, currently a cadet at the Republic of Korea Military Academy, and two daughters.
