Commander Nattapong Somboonkear have been with the Royal Thai Navy for 14 years. After he graduated, CDR Nattapong spent most of his time working in the Patrol Squadron, Royal Thai Fleet from junior officer in the ship until he took over command as the CO of H.T.M.S.Taimuang, Patrol Gun Boat. 

Subsequently, he moved to the headquarters in Bangkok and was appointed as Attached to Sea Operation Section, Naval Operations Department for 2 years and he had a chance to work abroad as Battle Watch Captain of Combined Task Force 151 at US Naval Base in Bahrain about five months in 2020. 

After CDR Nattapong graduated from the Naval Command and Staff College in 2022, he was appointed as the Head of the Real Estate Section, Naval Logistics Department for 2 years. CDR Nattapong graduated with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Royal Thai Naval Academy in 2010. During his career, he had an opportunity to attend the International Combat Information Center Watch Officer in USA in 2014 and the International Military Observers Course in Hungary in 2023. 

CDR Nattapong married in September 2017 and has 1 daughter (6 years old).
