The IFC recently engaged in a security drill in partnership with Socatra, a French shipowner specializing in oil cargo transportation. The exercise involved one of Socatra's tankers and simulated an unauthorized boarding within IFC's Area of Interest.
Prior to the drill, the IFC collaborated with Socatra to provide a realistic scenario and aligned with the company's objectives for the exercise. The timely reporting from the ship allowed the IFC to info-share the incident with relevant stakeholders of the incident. The exercise proved highly effective in enhancing the operational readiness of the ship's crew, who demonstrated their ability to respond to the situation. This was also a fruitful opportunity for all involved to exchange feedback and improve information sharing processes.
