2026 Highlights

PACIOSWG 2026

The IFC participated in the Pacific and Indian Oceans Shipping Working Group (PACIOSWG) 2026 Meeting from 9 to 13 Mar 2026.

Hosted by the Royal Navy and Chaired by the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), the PACIOSWG 2026 aimed to enhance the interoperability of member nations to strengthen maritime security and protection of white shipping through maritime domain awareness.

During PACIOSWG 2026, IFC shared updates on our initiatives to strengthen the trust and mutual understanding between maritime security stakeholders and shipping industry. The programme featured a series of insightful briefings from security partners, including S&P Global, Lloyd's of London, OCIMF and NATO Shipping Centre, which provided a holistic overview of the evolving situation in the Straits of Hormuz and its implications for global maritime trade. Discussions highlighted how geopolitical tensions can translate into operational and commercial challenges for white shipping, affecting risk assessments and decisions on transit routes. Another topic of interest was threats to critical underwater infrastructure, which are essential to global communications and energy flows. Participants reaffirmed the importance of info-sharing and enhanced awareness to safeguard these vital assets.

Platforms such as PACIOSWG are vital in strengthening partnerships across the maritime community. The IFC remains committed to supporting Safe and Secure Seas for all.
