The IFC recently engaged in a security drill in collaboration With NYK Shipmanagement (NYKSM). A good partner Of IFC, NYKSM has been actively participating in the IFCS other initiatives, including the 8th MARISX and getting their ships to join in the voluntary Community Reporting (VCR) scheme.
Two weeks before the drill, the IFC and NYKSM worked together to design a drill scenario that simulated a maritime security incident involving MV Monoceros Leader out at sea. During the drill, the information sharing process was executed timely by the CSO, which facilitated the IFC to share crucial information with the Malaysia International Liaison Officer (ILO) who promptly coordinated with the Royal Malaysian Navy to provide assistance to the distressed vessel.
The overall exercise was a success with all the training objectives met. Kudos to the Emergency Response Team, master and crew of MV Monoceros Leader who demonstrated their ability to react quickly and effectively in dealing with the emergency.
