The IFC participated in a ship-shore security drill with IMC Shipping to familiarize info- sharing processes and enhance operational readiness. The exercise simulated a port attack when one of their vessels was loading in port.
During the drill, the crew experienced multiple challenges happening simultaneously which put them to the test. One such scenario was to consider whether to severe mooring ropes and cast off the berth without pilot / tug assistance.
The IFC's India International Liaison Officer (ILO) and Shipping Engagement branch contributed contextual information and recommendations to IMC Shipping, enhancing their understanding of the MARSEC situation in the AO.
The IFC extends its appreciation to the crew of IMC for the opportunity to participate in this exercise. We look forward to continued collaboration with shipping industry to strengthen maritime security awareness and operational readiness.
Together, we can achieve Safe and Secure Seas for All!
