The IFC recently collaborated With Capt Ye Win Aung, Safety and Training Superintendent of Operations from Hong Lam Marine, participating in their ship security drill during the IFC Maritime Awareness Week campaign. The scenario for the drill was designed to rigorously test the ship crews' responses and assess the efficacy of their security plan during a simulated piracy attack.
Adding more realism to the drill, both Indonesia and Malaysia International Liaison Officers were actively engaged to facilitate info-sharing with their respective OPCENs. Timely reporting to the IFC and photographic evidence of the perpetrators remain key factors for authorities to swiftly render assistance to the ship.
The invaluable insights gained from this drill will also be used to refine security protocols, establish effective communication channels, and strengthen coordination among relevant stakeholders.
