Hafnia recently conducted a ship security drill, which involved their vessel's transit through the Gulf of Aden (GoA). The drill involved real-time testing of responses from their ship crew, and in the presence of a team of armed security guards onboard, making the drill as realistic as possible.
The drill brought together many stakeholders, including the IFC and its FR and US International Liaison Officers (ILOs).
Ray Lee, Security Manager and Company Security Officer of Hafnia, invited IFC to partake in the drill to foster linkages as part of their emergency response strategies. While the drill occurred outside the IFC's Area of Interest, both FR and US ILOs used the opportunity to simulate engagement with key maritime stakeholders responsible for overseeing counter-piracy efforts in GOA, namely the MSCHoA (European Union Naval Force - Operation ATALANTA) and Combined Maritime Forces (CMF).
The ILOs demonstrated how their extensive linkages enabled IFC to corroborate information from multiple sources, enhancing our situational awareness and ensuring real-time information exchange.
We would like to thank Hafnia for their invitation and look forward to greater collaboration ahead.
