IIFC & Hafnia: Enhancing Security Response Readiness

The IFC recently participated in a ship-to-shore security drill with Hafnia on 7 Jul 2026 to strengthen coordinated responses during maritime emergencies.

The exercise simulated an engine room fire on board Hafnia Falcon while the vessel was operating in the Far East. Led by the Master, the crew promptly initiated emergency procedures and incident demonstrating professionalism and reporting, effective eamwork in a realistic, fast-paced scenario.

Throughout the exercise, the vessel's crew worked closely with Hafnia's shore-based crisis management team, P&l Gard role-players, and the IFC to validate communication processes, coordination procedures, and real-time decision-making during a complex maritime emergency.

International Officers attending the Goh Keng Swee Command and Staff College (GKSCSC) also observed the exercise alongside the IFC. Their participation provided valuable exposure to ship-to- shore crisis management while highlighting the importance of close collaboration between the commercial shipping industry and maritime security stakeholders. Exercises such as these strengthen partnerships, enhance operational readiness, and reinforce effective information sharing during maritime incidents. The IFC thanks Hafnia for organising this valuable exercise and for its continued commitment to maritime security.

Together, we can achieve Safe and Secure Seas for All.
