IFC Visits Columbia Shipmanagement (CSM)

On 10 Jul 26, the IFC, together with our ILOs joining virtually, visited CSM to discuss MARSEC challenges affecting container shipping, with a focus on narcotics smuggling, TRAPS, practical threat narcotics mitigation, and crew safety.

The discussion centered on practical threat mitigation measures and crew safety, highlighting the need for a proactive approach to addressing evolving security threats rather than responding only after incidents occur. The engagement also underscored the importance of collecting photographic evidence through onboard surveillance systems to support investigations and facilitate timely information sharing among the relevant authorities.

The visit reinforced that effective maritime security cannot be achieved in isolation. Close collaboration between the shipping industry and enforcement agencies remains essential to strengthening maritime domain enhancing operational awareness, coordination, and countering illicit activities.

By building trusted partnerships with industry stakeholders such as CSM, the IFC continues to bridge the gap between regional monitoring and real-world fleet operations, contributing to the safety and security of global supply chains.

The IFC thanks or its continued partnership and support.

Together, we can achieve Safe and Secure Seas for All.
