IFC Engagement with Anglo American

The IFC recently hosted Anglo American for an in-person engagement to exchange perspectives on the evolving maritime security landscape and strengthen bilateral collaboration.

The engagement provided a valuable platform for candid discussions on the maritime security including how the industry is environment, adapting its operational responses and managing risks across key global trade routes. Discussions focused on operations in the Red Sea/GuIf of Aden and Western Indian Ocean, as well as the Singapore and Malacca Straits, where high traffic density, asymmetric threats and conflict spillovers continue to present challenges to crew safety and schedule reliability.

The session also explored practical avenues for future cooperation, including route-specific briefings and annual engagement initiatives covering crew interactions, strategic alignment sessions and joint ship-to-shore security drills. These insights will help the IFC develop more targeted approaches to support shipping operations while minimising additional workload for bridge teams.

The IFC remains committed to strengthening information sharing and supporting the maritime industry through timely information exchange and the sharing of best practices. We thank Anglo American for their active participation, valuable insights and continued commitment to a safer maritime domain. Together, we can achieve Safe and Secure Seas for All.
