The Information Fusion Centre (IFC) successfully co-organised the 49th Shared Awareness Meeting (SAM) on 26 February 2026 with Asian Shipowners' Association (ASA) and Singapore Shipping Association (SSA). The meeting brought together over 150 participants from the maritime security (MARSEC), shipping community, who participated both in-person and virtually, demonstrating a collective commitment to safe and secure seas.
The presentations provided a comprehensive overview of the MARSEC landscape, including useful insights and best practices. Speakers from IFC, UKMTO, and the French MICA Centre provided operational level assessments of our respective AOs, including those of recent tensions in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
CMA CGM shared industry insights and their experience dealing with the spate of sea robbery incidents the Phillip Channel last year, and how that actively engaged the Indonesian Maritime Police and shared crucial CCTV evidence that led to the successful arrest of 13 suspects, contributing to the sharp drop in sea robbery incidents in the latter half of 2025.
Our partner from Fortinet closed the session with a forward-looking presentation on the surge of Al-driven cyber threats and how it would re-shape how the industry looks at security, underscoring the urgent need for integrated IT-OT maritime defenses.
It was a day of insightful presentations, meaningful discussions, and candid sharing. A heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to all our speakers, partners, and participants for making the 49th SAM a resounding success.
Together we can ensure Safe and Secure Seas for all!
