The IFC and ASA have successfully conducted the 42nd Shared Awareness Meeting (SAM) held on 14 Nov 2022, with participants joining us both physically and virtually.
We would like to thank everyone, including the speakers and participants who made this event a success! Special thanks to our speakers who attended LCDR Timothy Laird, CDR Olivier Trullemans, CDR Stephan, LCDR Nelson McMillan, CAPT Jesus Menacho, CDR Carlos Dall'Orto, Mr Wong Kai Cheong, Mr Vijayan Manogara, and not forgetting our master of ceremony CDR Angela Salih.
During the event, the speakers presented the MARSEC situation of various regions, how the removal of the HRA in Indian Ocean affects the industry and ways to boost cybersecurity onboard.
"We are delighted to have the opportunity to co-organise this SAM with the Asian Shipowners' Association, for the first time, which is another milestone for us as we continue to expand our outreach to the shipping industry to raise maritime security awareness." - LTC Daniel Ng, Deputy Hd IFC and Hd Shipping Engagement
"All of us here understand the overriding principle that the seas are global common resources. The free flow of maritime trade, which is the basic infrastructure of the global cargo movements, rests on the understanding that the seas are equally shared under the law and order." - Mr Yuichi Sonoda, Secretary General, Asian Shipowners' Association (ASA)
May the holiday season end your 2022 on a cheerful note and make way for a fresh and bright New Year. See you in February next year for our 43rd SAM!
